About The designer

When Vinniey Tan graduated from art college in the '90s, she always knew that design was her true calling. Starting her career as a graphic designer in the advertising and design industry, she eventually rose to the position of Art Director. However, it was when she purchased her first cross-stitch kit that she discovered her genuine passion. In 2009, she delved into the world of creating fresh and unique cross-stitch designs, starting with "Cupcake Cottage," her inaugural design. Since then, there has been no turning back. With an ever-growing enthusiasm, she has brought to life a total of 11 designs in just two years.

In 2012, she made the bold decision to leave behind her advertising career to devote her time to the joy of stitching and designing cross-stitch charts. This career shift allows her to focus on her true passion, drawing from her past experiences to craft meaningful works of art.

Inspiration for her designs often springs from music and various aspects that catch her eye, whether it's a word, an image, a sound, a mug, a photograph, an antique, or even her daughters' handwriting and drawings. Color serves as a profound wellspring of creativity for her. Described as a blend of primitive art and modern folk art, her designs feature crisp, clean lines that are not only elegantly simple but also easy to stitch. Vinniey personally stitches all her models, infusing colors and details along the way. Her charts predominantly use easy-to-read symbols, enhancing the stitching experience for all.
